Magnet Board

I made this magnet board for a Secret Santa gift, not knowing how much of a problem I was getting myself into.  I saw a picture of this and thought, no problem, looks easy enough.

I used a cooke sheet and apparently adhering the fabric to metal isn't all that easy.  Hot glue doesn't work, strong white glue - no go, so the next option was 3M super 77 adhesive spray for $15.  Mom thought of double sided tape and that worked 10x better.  The problem with the first 2 tries was the metal isn't porous but the fabric was so the glue just stuck to the fabric.  Slightly annoying!

You're probably wondering how I got the ribbon thru the metal, eh?  I had planned on making a dent with a drill but didn't have the right drill bits for metal so used a hammer and nail and banged really hard.  No problem!
Here is the back.  The red fabric was obviously wrapped around to the back of the pan but what do you cover it with?  I used a piece of cardboard, cut from a box.  I covered it with cardstock, added a red border from cardstock and covered that edge with black ribbon.  The final product is ok.  I didn't see the back of the original board where I got the idea from so don't know what it was like.
The magnets I made from buttons and bought the magnet part from Michaels with a 50% off coupon and it was less than $2.00!  I hope the recipient likes it.  I asked ahead what her decor colours were and red and black are in her kitchen.

Long Lost Cards

I found this picture of some cards I made with my Cricut machine.  I have the Cricut Create.  It's not like the big ones where you can put in 12"x12" paper, unfortunately, but rather 12"x6" paper.

I was seeing what the cricut could produce and my cartridge that makes cards did these.  I ended up giving my Uncle the cake one for his birthday in July.

2012 Calendar - Very Knarly

Here's a preview of a 2012 Recipe Calendar that I'm making for a friend for Christmas.  I have chosen tye-dye as my theme.  I found a great paper pack with about 48 sheets of tye-dye pages (2 of each design).  Each 4"x6" recipe card is laminated and inserted into clear photo corners for easy removal.  This is the second recipe calendar I've made and since the recipes are the main attraction I don't embelish much else on each page as I don't expect the calendar to be saved after the year is finished, but I hope the recipes will be.

Christmas Card Kit

The pieces were all cut out and stamped before I got them.  I couldn't attend the card class, so the lady pre-cut and stamped it all and provided instructions for me.  This kit (4 cards) cost me $20.  I think that's a bit steep ($5/card) but I made an acception for these ones as I really liked them.

Cricut Cutouts

I was asked by my youngest sister to make these 'tags' for a women's wknd conference.  There were 3 themes that represented 3 different causes.  Each tag had a dollar value to donate to that cause.
The keys represented the women's recovery house.  I had found these diecut keys via eBay.  There were 2 designs and each one was heat embossed with either silver or gold powder.
This tree had tags that represented House of Hope, an orphanage in Taiwan (I think).  There were 3 designs; tree & bridge, fans, and cherry blossoms.  These cutouts were probably the most tedious and intricate to put together.
And finally, these tags represented the Gift Giveaway.  Toys are donated to this cause and then given away to less-fortunate families throughout the city.  There were 6 designs: truck, teddy bear, gingerbread man, puppy dog, sailboat, and a red wagon.
Many thanks to my sister and mom for their help with putting these tags together.

My Baby Scrapbook

I made my own scrapbook album from age newborn to age 2.  Mom let me use the original 4"x4" pics and polaroids from the 1970s & 1980s.  I made copies as replacements for mom.  I photocopied the comments/ descriptions that were written on the back of the pics and added them to the book as well.  I selected a particular paper collection as well from Bo Bunny.  Above are just a couple example pages.

Greeting Cards

These cards were made at Making Memories scrapbook store in Smithers.  Two of each card was made.

Greeting Cards

These were made in Feb 2009.  There were actually 20 cards made at a Stampin' Up party.

Birthday Card

I made this card for my niece's 1st birthday 2009.

Greeting Cards

I made these cards as a 'white elephant' Christmas gift.

CD Jacket

My dad and I made videos of our times baking last winter.  Then I burned them to 2 discs and sent them to my uncle.  Of course the CD jackets had to be made from scratch.

My Collections

This blog page will be a collaboration of the creative, artsy, crafty things I have made.  I'd like to organize this blog so I have a couple different folders, one for cards, recipe boxes, etc....and whatever else I make.
